Pet of the Week

Rocky

Rocky...

Rocky has spent his entire life – all eight years of it – in a yard. He arrived at the RSPCA in woeful condition with seriously matted hair and was extremely timid, having never been socialized properly.

He is terrified of other dogs. Despite his less-than-ideal beginnings Rocky is a lovely wee man who – once you have gained his confidence – is as affectionate and attentive as any other happy dog. But you have to work for it.

RockyRocky will need a lot of care and attention from his new owners… understandably.

But what you will get after a few weeks of including him in your life is a lively little pooch who wants nothing more than to be part of the family.

He will need a calm and consistent leader and we recommend he doesn’t go to a family with younger children as he has not come into contact with them before.

The best way to meet Rocky is by coming along to Paws Central in Malaga where we have a variety of cats, dogs and other animals.

We're at 108 Malaga Drive (Corner of Reid Highway)

Make sure to visit our Pet of the Week page every week. You never know, you may see your new best friend right here!

WHere are they now

Mau Mau...

Look at me now :)Mau Mau has settled in well with me and my partner.

We live in Kalamunda on a big block across the road from some bush land.

As a result we have a rabbit warren in our back yard, so Mau Mau is quite happy as he gets to go out and sniff around (and occasionally eat a piece of rabbit poop when I am not looking).

My partner and I love Mau Mau, and my partner tries to put on a tough front, but I have caught him brushing Mau Mau and talking to him a few times now. Mau Mau sleeps on my pillow at night and wraps himself around my head.

Mau Mau is not allowed out on his own, but I take him outside at least once everyday on his little harness and leash. He doesn't seem to mind it most of the time, but occasionally he seems to realise that it is there so he drops to the ground and tries to bite the collar (which is quite funny to watch).

SHelley and her new feline pal!Mau Mau visited Applecross primary school the other day. He was a star. He seems to really enjoy being the center of attention (even if that attention is coming from 25 year one students). I think he even managed to promote the RSPCA as the students all knew that that is where he came from.

He was not eating properly when he first came to stay, but that has changed.

My only concern with Mau Mau is a popping noise that he makes when he breaths through his nose, but we are going to the Vet's next week to get that checked and to get the next set of vaccinations.

Thank you to all the staff at the RSPCA for providing a healthy and very happy pet.
